Man Made Fibre

The man made fibre industry, also known as the synthetic fiber fabric industry, involves the production of fibers that are not derived from natural sources like cotton or wool. Instead, man-made fibers/  are created through chemical processes using raw materials such as petroleum-based chemicals, coal, natural gas, or renewable resources like plant cellulose.

Types of Man-Made Fibers: There are various types of man-made fibers, spinning fiber including:

a. Polyester: It is the most widely used synthetic fiber and is known for its durability, wrinkle resistance, and easy-care properties. Polyester is used in clothing, home textiles, industrial applications, and packaging materials.

b. Nylon: Nylon fibers are known for their strength, elasticity, and abrasion resistance. They are used in various applications such as apparel, hosiery, automotive parts, carpets, and industrial products.

c. Acrylic: Acrylic fibers mimic the properties of wool, providing warmth and softness. They are used in sweaters, blankets, outdoor fabrics, and carpets.

d. Polypropylene: Polypropylene fibers are lightweight, moisture-resistant, and have excellent thermal properties. They are used in a wide range of applications, including apparel, automotive parts, geotextiles, and packaging materials.

e. Rayon: Rayon is a semi-synthetic fiber made from cellulose derived from wood pulp or other plant sources. It is used in apparel, home textiles, and industrial applications.

Learn More

The man-made fiber industry has been working towards sustainability and reducing its environmental impact. Efforts are being made to develop eco-friendly fibers, increase recycling rates, improve energy efficiency, and reduce waste and emissions throughout the manufacturing process.

Solutions for Man Made Fibre Industry

Polymer Feed and Transfer: Positive displacement pumps are used to feed polymer solutions or melt to various stages of the fiber production process. They ensure accurate and consistent delivery of polymers, which are crucial for creating the base materials used in man-made fibers.

  1. Spin Finish Application: Spin finish is a lubricating and antistatic agent applied to synthetic fibers during the spinning process to enhance their performance and processability. Positive displacement pumps are used to precisely meter and apply spin finish onto the fibers.
  2. Dye and Chemical Additive Injection: Positive displacement pumps are used to inject dyes, colorants, and chemical additives into the fiber processing line. They enable precise dosing and controlled mixing of these substances, ensuring uniform coloration and desired properties in the final fibers.
  3. Filtration and Cleaning Systems: Positive displacement pumps play a crucial role in filtration systems within man-made fiber factories. They are used to transfer fiber suspensions or polymer solutions through filters to remove impurities and ensure the quality and purity of the fibers.
  4. Fiber Spinning and Drawing: Positive displacement pumps are employed in the fiber spinning and drawing process to control the flow of polymer solutions or melts. They provide the necessary pressure and flow rate to extrude the polymer through spinnerets and ensure consistent fiber diameter and quality.
  5. Extrusion and Melt Pumping: Positive displacement pumps are utilized for extruding polymer melts in the production of synthetic fibers. They provide the required pressure and metering to deliver the molten polymer through the extrusion die, maintaining a steady and controlled flow.
  6. Fiber Finishing Processes: Positive displacement pumps are involved in various finishing processes for man-made fibers. This includes the application of coatings, finishes, or treatments onto the fibers to improve their properties, such as flame retardancy, moisture management, or antimicrobial properties.
  7. Waste Handling and Disposal: Positive displacement pumps are used to handle and transfer waste materials generated during the fiber production process. This includes pumping and transferring waste polymer solutions, wastewater, or other by-products to appropriate treatment or disposal systems.
